Summary |
Every software you deploy, in particular custom-developed software, may become part of your company's competitive advantage. At some point, you might get stagnated on changes because your cutting-edge software is not easy to deploy nor easy to change. You end up in “fire mode” and don't have time to add new features to your software. How to shift your focus from just “keeping your system running” to continuously adding value over time? How to ensure you keep your company and product on the edge of innovation? In this tutorial you will learn that adopting Continuous Delivery (CD) methods is not (only) about choosing the right set of tools, code and infrastructure. CD will help you to “build the right thing”, reduce release risks and create realistic ways of tracking a project's progress. This tutorial will make use of tools, languages, and frameworks like Jenkins, Ruby on Rails and git. No previous knowledge of those tools is required as they will be used to practically illustrate how to apply the concepts shown in the tutorial. Alternative tools for your choice of technology will be discussed as well. |

Speaker Bio | Pedro, Brazilian, currently working as an Agile Development Consultant at ThoughtSauce Hong Kong, deeply experienced software development in the most varied forms during his career; from top-down waterfall projects to flat-hierarchy forward-thinking companies where he transitioned across different roles back and forth, ranging from Developer to Agile Coach. He strongly thinks that to build good software, one has to know how to communicate and interact with people more than just possessing technical skills. On his free time, you can find him doing cooking experiments or backpacking around some south east Asian country. | |
